The Safety & Service Director is committed to ensuring top quality City services and providing a safe and pleasurable environment for the community by focusing on high ethical standards, efficiency and effectiveness, civility, teamwork, and pursuit of excellence.

The Safety & Service Director functions to preserve and improve the quality of City services and safety by effectively managing operations of City departments including: Building Inspection, Building Maintenance, City Garage, Community Development, Department of Utilities, Parks and Recreation, Police, and the Streets Department.

The Safety & Service Director serves as the professional administrator of the City and is responsible for coordinating all day-to-day operations of the city.

Responsibilities include:

• City’s Liaison between the Administration, City Council and City Operations
• Chief Advisor to the Mayor
• Chief Administrative Officer for the City's Service Departments
• Inter-governmental Relations
• See that the Laws and Ordinances are Enforced
• Attend all Meetings of the Council, with the right to take part in the discussion but not to vote
• Recommend to the Council for Adoption such Measures as he/she may deem Necessary or Expedient
• Approve the Annual Budget
