The Hillsboro Police Department is comprised of seventeen full-time law enforcement officers, including the Chief, Captain, four Sergeants, three dispatchers and a traffic control technician.  The department also has an auxiliary force available during emergencies and special events.  Six marked and two unmarked cruisers, as well as a four-wheel drive vehicle all equipped with two-way radios, are utilized in patrolling Hillsboro.  A 24 hour patrol is maintained for all residential homes and industrial property within the corporation limits.  The department also maintains a four officer bicycle patrol, motorcycle patrol, and a police canine unit.
