Hillsboro Purchases New Street Paving Equipment
Our new Dura-Patch machine sprays liquid emulsion at the same time as it sprays stone. It then conforms to the shape of the hole with little or no air voids and creates a solid bond. With the elimination of air voids, it will extend the lifespan of the repair. Previously, we used traditional asphalt to repair our streets, but unfortunately asphalt does have air voids and asphalt plants generally shut down in November and do not reopen until April or May. So, in the winter months we used cold mix, which a much less durable fix. Unlike traditional asphalt, the new machine can accommodate repairs all year round. Though the new machine will not prevent potholes, it will make repairing the streets much more durable and much more cost effective.
